In a packed cricket stadium that’s clearly meant to be an Indian Test venue, the scoreboard doesn’t show runs; it shows “NEET RESULTS,” “PAPER LEAKS,” and “BACKDOOR QUOTA DEALS” as giant red error messages. On the pitch, a line of exhausted, skinny students in school uniforms are padded up like tail-enders, facing a smug bowling attack made of bloated ‘Coaching Mafia,’ ‘Private University Trust,’ and a faceless ‘Exam Authority’ in a suit covered in sponsor logos. Umpiring at one end, Sachin Tendulkar raises a massive red card instead of a finger; at square leg, Mary Kom, Mirabai Chanu, and other recognisable Indian sports icons hold up cardboard placards stamped with ‘MERIT MEANS FAIR, NOT FOR SALE’ and ‘NO MORE RIGGED SCORECARDS.’ In a VIP box above, anonymous politicians and edu-corporate CEOs clink glasses under a banner reading ‘CAPTIVE YOUTH, FREE PROFITS,’ suddenly sweating as the student crowd in the stands turns into a sea of raised admit cards and exam hall tickets, like protest signs. A tiny TV chyron in the corner of the frame calls it ‘Pitch Invasion by Future Taxpayers.’
